IES Hässelby Strand helps school in Africa

Written by: Emma Sundstedt, Emma Ekwall, Emma Bergendal, Moa Ekblom and Sandra Thelander in class 7b.

IES Hässelby Strand is raising money for Sodwana Bay Preparatory school in South Africa.
Sodwana Bay preparatory school in Sodwana Bay.

Sodwana Bay Preparatory school is a school from pre-school up to year 7. We had an Operation Work day to raise money for the school. Together we raised 56199 kronors! Ms. Schäfer, the principal of IES Hässelby says “My dream is to build a school where students can get the education that they need. To be successful and return to their community one day to pass on their knowledge.”

We asked some kids at our school what they thought about us helping the school. Mikaela Ghasemi, 10 years old, in class 4b said “It is good, because then they can live as well as we do.” Fanny Berg, also 10 years old, in class 4a said “It is very good, because then they get a good education and good toilets.”
These are the toilets,
sometimes there will be snakes and spiders
in there that have crawled through holes.

We will keep helping Sodwana Bay Preporaty school, on the spring term we will be doing something similar to operation work day.
