Is There Any Hope for School Uniforms?

By 6A Reporters: Aros, Kasper, Jacob, Vendela

Are we going to get school uniforms in IES Hässelby Strand in the future? The whole school is involved. We have gone and interviewed students and the principal to find out if we're going to get school uniforms in the future. It did happen from the 14th November until 28th November. We wrote this article because our group wanted to find out if we´re going to get school uniforms in the feature.

When we interviewed Edris Hakimzada, class 6A, student at IES Hässelby Strand, we asked him, Why do you think we don't have school uniforms? He said, "I think it isn't necessary to have, because it doesn't change anything." If we would have school uniforms how would they look like? "Soft trousers and street jackets," he said. "Or all in school could vote how they would look like." Should even the teachers have it? "No." Do you think this is a good idea? "No, but it would maybe be fun."

And then we interviewed Ms Österman, student administrator at IES Hässelby. Why do you think we don't have school uniforms? She said, "I think we can't force you to wear it, and I also think it's a rule to not have school uniforms in Sweden." If we would have school uniforms how would they look like? "Maybe soft trousers and college jumpers," she said. Should even the teachers have it? "No." Do you think this is a good idea? "Yes, it's a very good idea," she said.

Finally we interviewed the principal of IES Hässelby Strand, Ms Schäfer. We asked her, Why do you think we don't have school uniforms? “Because this is Sweden, and many students won't like it," she answered. If we would have school uniforms how would they look like? "First it would be two different school uniforms, one for winter and one for summer. And we could maybe vote in the school which colors we want for the school and those colors would be on the school uniforms." Should even the teachers have it? "No," she said. Do you think this is a good idea? "Yes. Because it would also be cheaper for the parents."
